Rip Hamilton Officially Calls It Quits

Earlier this week, Jeremy Guthrie announced his sneaker retirement with a mock press conference. Next up to make an announcement is 14 year NBA vet, Richard Rip Hamilton. He made his official retirement announcement in front of a green screen on ESPN's "His & Hers" show with a pair of Just Don Air Jordan 2s around his neck. In the interview, he used the shoes as a prop to symbolize "hanging them up" and officially calling it.

Now 37 years old, the two guard was drafted out of UConn by the Washington Wizards in which he would begin his career. Hamilton will most be remembered as apart of the Detroit Pistons' revival in which they ended the Los Angeles Lakers' supreme reign. In a more impressive note, they easily defeated a Lakers team that featured 4 sure first ballot Hall of Famers in Kobe Bryant, Shaquille O'Neal, Gary Payton, and Karl Malone.

On top of the NBA achievements, Hamilton was blessed to sign with Jordan Brand and spent most of his career in the Jumpman. Jordan Brand present Hamilton with many of his own PEs to rock on the court. From an educated guess, the Jordan 2s, 12s or 13s must've been Rip's favorites to wear since he had so many PEs in those specific shoes. To this day, Rip is still receiving shipments from Jordan Brand and regularly shares with his 128,000 Instagram followers. For those interested, we've gathered a few of his PE Pistons colorways. The man behind the clear face mask was fierce competitor and luckily for him, Jordan Brand had him laced up throughout the journey.
